Signs You May Need Emergency Dental Care

- Severe Pain – this is a sign of infection that may require antibiotics as well as pain relief medication

- Accident – an injury to your mouth/jaw should be seen immediately

- Cracked or Chipped Tooth - it may not seem serious, but ignoring a small crack or chip in your tooth can create larger dental issues

- Lost Tooth – assuming it was a permanent tooth, there’s a possibility the tooth could be saved if seen in time.

- Excessive bleeding - this may be due to gum disease, an accident or any number of other causes

- Pus or Infection – this type of infection could actually spread if ignored

In May 2023, I had an emergency extraction of my upper wisdom teeth that Dr. Joesting done. I was in so much pain. He did a great job with the instructions while preparing for the extraction and also, with the procedure! The pain went away after the recovery process. That same visit, before the extraction, Miriam (the dental hygienist) did a thorough cleaning. My teeth weren't in the greatest shape, but that day was the first visit. Miriam was amazing! She is very kind and took the time to really focus on my teeth. She explained every issue that was going on with my teeth, gave me instructions on how to progress and take the next step in getting healthy teeth. She definitely held me accountable. For every follow up, which was every 4 months, my teeth were getting healthier and improving with all her hard work, and the fact that she held me accountable to keep up things on my end. It has been 2 years, and I have healthy teeth. The whole team at Highlands Dental are amazing! I also want to give my compliments to Lenneth at the front desk. She's really easy to work with and is helpful with any questions asked.
